Business update meeting and the seven wonder of the world

Like the next guy, I am a huge fan of business update meeting. The excitement from a 3 hours business update meeting is just the kind of sugar rush that everyone need. The whole group would get together in a room and then listen to their leaders, either face to face or via video conf call. To dissect the update will be the responsibility of the head honcho who in most mnc are foreigners-expats etc. Language used are of a bbc world service quality. Americans would waltz around data driven presentation slides while europeans will tap dance on wordy slides with plenty of comic relief for good measure.
At the end of the day, the update is part and parcel of the corporate life for most of us. It bridges the corporate masses with the executive staff and their strategic plans.

Of reading and writing

I always fancy myself as an accomplished reader of the english language. Eventhough my domain is limited to non fictions, I still find romanticism and flair in the most harden political science books and history manuscripts. Fiction writing is rather dull and not as fascinating to me as and old writing by sir francis bacon for example. But it will be untrue to claim that I have shun away entirely from fiction. I still have high admiration on ancient fiction that was written 100 years ago- bronte for example is stoll as gripping as it was a century ago. I would excuse myself now and leave you with a photo of a restaurant at sri petaling that also serves one of penang famous mee mamak.

Weekend Wedding

Malaysian wedding are mostly held on weekend.
The traditional venue for malays would be the at the family resident. No doubt that has somewhat change with the changes in the malay social classes. More weddings are held at hotels-reception halls in lavish fashion. The mawi-ekin wedding was a classic example of behavior-culture-social-class change. Never the less, this is a norm in human history , progress of humanity -socially and intellectually so a debate on right and wrong is futile and a waste of bandwidth. My father and uncle was at a wedding today, so this entry is dedicated to both men who has influenced my whole being greatly and whom I love and admired immensely.

Mencari Ilmu- Sembang Kosong Petang Rabu

The below is a snippet from a discussion between a group of friends over company email.

"Perbincangan ilmu atau lebih tepat bercakap mengenai bagaimana untuk mencari ilmu perlu di beri tumpuan utama. Komen komen tidak membina perlu di elakan kerana ia akan menganak tirikan isu yg kita sedang bincangkan. Dan tiada siapa pun mahu menganak tirikan isu sepenting ini.

Pencarian ilmu itu tidak patut dibatasi oleh kehendak tugas
Pencarian ilmu itu perlu diteruskan
Akan tetapi atas dasar terhad masa , maka saya setuju bahawa ilmu yg di cari perlu di susun atas kehendak , yg mana lebih penting di dahulukan (cubaan saya utk tidak menggunakan perkataan priority menyebabkan saya terpaksa menambah 9 perkataan melayu)
akan tetapi ilmu tetap di cari biar di perosok mana pun dia.

Hadis Rasullullah menyentuh pencarian ilmu hingga ke PRC, ada maksud tersirat
jika di potong 3 maksud pergi ke PRC utk mencari ilmu , maka terzahirlah keperluan dari segi kederat, masa dan, harta
Mari lah kita sumbang kederat, masa dan harta untuk mencari ilmu. "
